This basic, birch plywood pastry board is an indispensable item when you are making fresh pasta. The slightly rough wooden surface has just the right amount of friction needed to knead your pasta effectively.
The board has a wooden baton attached to one edge, forming a lip that hangs over the side of your worktop. This lip stabilises the board as you knead and roll the dough.
When making the dragged, pulled or hand-rolled fresh pasta shapes such as orecchiette, trofie, cavatelli, etc the pastry board gives you the perfect surface to form the shapes and protects your countertops.
Please note: The birch plywood is a natural product and has variations in the grain. Where there are natural knots in the wood, these have been removed and inlaid with another piece of birch plywood.

Materials and care
Birch plywood
To clean, scrape any dried dough with a dough scraper and then wipe with a damp cloth. Do not put in the dishwasher and do not allow to stand in water.
Before your first use, we recommend that you wipe the board with a slightly damp cloth to remove any fine wood dust. From time to time, use a clean cloth or piece of kitchen towel and wipe over mineral or food safe oil to nourish the wood. Wiping over with oil helps to smooth out any of the rough surface grain and prevents cracking.

We hope to do our bit for the environment and reduce plastic waste. Most of our packaging is paper based and is non-laminated, which can be easily recycled or composted at home.
We aim to reuse materials and packaging where possible and this is usually the only plastic you will find in your parcel. This plastic protection can also be recycled.
